It rhymes with purple, which no other word in the English language does. It’s purple with panache. It stands alone. It’s unique. Just like the one-of-a-kind handcrafted items you’ll find here at Etsy.com.
These items will always have a vintage or antique sewing button, probably more than one, used as decoration, a centerpiece, a clasp… Stitches used are peyote, buttonhole, brick, and one I don’t know the name of but I do know 6 threads go through every bead. I use Silamide nylon thread which is strong and durable, and double and wax the thread whenever possible (I sometimes use micro beads, which my friend Barb says are smaller than salt she uses, so it’s not possible to double and wax with those). I never purposefully destroy the integrity of the buttons I use, but I will use ones that someone else has already cut the back off of or otherwise compromised. If you have a favorite or treasured button you would like to see incorporated into a custom button jewelry design, email me at and we’ll talk.
Original designs in earrings, necklaces, things to hang. Nuts, bolts, paper clips, googaws...nothing is safe but the kitchen sink. Elements are linked with wire or Silamide thread. Some of the designs are 2-sided.
Whimsical and organic, and also sometimes 2-sided—wearable art , things to hang from rear view mirrors or chandeliers, over a doorknob, as a suncatcher, on a wall. Some of the materials used are cedar chips, branch coral, broken pieces of jewelry, found objects, vintage and antique fabric, thread, trim, buttons, beads…
All of my pieces are original designs. Ready to be amazed? Click here to visit my store at Etsy.com
